Why Practical Experience Matters More Than Ever

These days, when we consider the professional arena, academic knowledge is no longer adequate for building one's career successfully. In fact, employers these days prefer to hire candidates with practical experience, good communication skills, and adaptability. The experience that I gained during my work in ING Skill Academy made me understand the need for practical exposure in order to make a mark professionally.

During my placement, I gained hands-on experience in the field of Sales & Marketing Operation and participated in activities such as student engagement, marketing campaigns, admission process, and communicating with stakeholders.

Among the most critical lessons learned, there were the ones related to communication and interpersonal skills. Working with students, organizations, and other people helped boost my self-confidence and made me understand how to conduct oneself during professional interactions. I also gained an understanding of how teamwork is involved in accomplishing organizational objectives.

The other lesson that I found quite useful is related to stress management. Being in a fast-paced environment, one has to have good time-management skills, which I acquired from practical experience.

Experience is also helpful in knowing about oneself because during my experience, I discovered that I lacked some things like strategizing skills, leadership qualities, and analytical abilities. Identifying such shortcomings inspired me to develop professionally in the future.

In conclusion, experience serves as a link between education and work. Not only does it enhance technical abilities, but it also instills confidence and professionalism in the individual.
